FTA Forum Tackles Workforce Training Across All Generations and Technology

Forum_IF15BOHEMIA, NY – March 3, 2015 – Change… an intimidating word to some, ignites excitement in others. As the flexo world continues to advance, it’s more important than ever to provide your staff with the proper tools and training to achieve their goals, as well as those of the company. This can be challenging as today’s workforce easily spans 4-5 generations. Flexographic Technical Association’s (FTA) 2015 Forum tackles this collective issue head-on with the session, “From Tribal Knowledge to Technology: How to Understand The Needs of Your Workforce.”

Chaired by Jennye Scott, Berry Plastics Corp. and Shelley Rubin, FTA, the session will address the issues that arise from varied training methods (remote and instructor-led), different learning styles, personality types and age gaps. Additionally, the session will explore the 4 key roadblocks commonly encountered in corporate training environments, how to avoid common pitfalls, and perhaps most importantly, how to make a training program meaningful and impactful.

“FTA recently conducted a market research study which found that the largest challenge for companies was finding suitably educated and trained employees,” said Scott. “The struggle over process control, maintaining productivity with fewer resources and keeping up with ever-changing technologies were issues that rose to the top of the list. This session will help companies address the issue of training, so that the entire process is smooth and demonstrates results.”

Topics and presenters include:

  • “Trainers Are People, Too,” Catherine Haynes, All Printing Resources and Joel Engelberth, Esko
  • “What’s Up With Them?” Nona Woolbright, Clemson University
  • “Moving Your Team To Perform ‘In Concert’,” Bob Coomes, Plastic Packaging Technologies
  • “tRain-Dance for Success,” Catherine Haynes, All Printing Resources and Joel Engelberth, Esko
