Quantum Design Buys KTI

SOUTH BELOIT, IL—Quantum Design, of Loves Park, IL has taken ownership of Keene Technology Inc (KTI), a world-class manufacturer of automatic splicers and turret rewinders, founded in 1985 by John Kenee. Danny Pearse has taken over as president and Dave Culvey has taken over as vice president of KTI. They currently serve as president and vice president of Quantum Design Inc. and have more than 30 years experience in the controls engineering, electrical engineering and manufacturing industries. They plan to keep the company in its current location and retain its current name.

Pearse and Culvey have big plans for the future of KTI; they have already started on the development of new programs and improvement upon the current product lines that will bring the company to new levels. The company is committed to improving both the products and services of KTI to best serve the needs and goals of their customers.

“We are very excited about the new opportunities at KTI under this change. Dave and I have been fortunate enough to be a part of different manufacturing and engineering companies over the years that have continuously exceeded our expectations. We are looking at this change as the ‘Beginning of a New Era’ for KTI and look forward to making improvements that will better the customer relationships as well as the overall product lines,” Pearse explained.

KTI currently has more than 3,000 machines installed in 24 countries being utilized by printers and converters in the tag and label, envelope, packaging, business forms, newspaper and folding carton industries. In response to the expanding customer base, KTI has diversified its product line over the years to include infeeds, unwind and rewind stands, butt splicers and multi-spindle and slitter rewinds, as well as a non-stop die cutting system.
