The card shows approximate common unwind tension values for various converting applications for paper and paperboard.
Information, provided in easy-to-use columns, includes thickness (in inches), tension (in PLI), basis weight (in GSM), and tension (in KG/cm).
Ed Montalvo, president, Montalvo, notes that the numbers are estimates for general reference: “Each user will have to determine their own specific numbers,” he says, “but this will provide an approximate value for numerous situations.”
There is also space at the bottom of each side of the card for converters to write in their own tension values. The card has a hole punched in the corner and can be hung on or near a machine for easy reference.
