GAMA International to Announce New Viscosity Tools at drupa 2016

The G29
The G29

DÜSSELDORF, GermanyGAMA will present a wide variety of new solutions for printing and converting at drupa 2016, which will take place from May 31 to June 10. The company will be in Hall 10 at Stand D40.

GAMA will show the consolidate solutions for the viscosity control of inks with measurement “vibration” technology VIS G26, for water based inks, G29, for water and EB based inks, and G28, together with the G90 for temperature control and the G50 for the pH control. Furthermore, it will launch the new innovative systems VIS G20 for the viscosity control of water based inks, VIS G30 for adhesives and varnishes, VIS G31 for the pH control and VIS G32 for the corrugate market. These systems benefit from the same innovative features as the previous ones:

  • Easy to use
  • Compact
  • Lack of mechanical parts subject to constant wear
  • Reduced maintenance
  • Integration into the conduit for sending ink to the press
  • Compliance with antiexplosion standards
  • Energy saving
  • Low environmental impact

Other products will complete the series of innovative control systems: G200 for the detection of ink consumption, G150 and G300 for managing data and automatic process of activities. At the stand, GAMA it will be also possible to view plate mounting systems, inspection systems and solutions for the logistics.

During drupa, the new software SOFT-MON-016 will be presented. Its captivating graphic interface gives the operator the opportunity to see on the screen all the information related to viscosity, temperature and pH. Furthermore, it measures the data of consumed solvent or ammonia. The new software has a bigger memory and it archives up to 5,000 jobs. It communicates with the managing system of the client, to send information on the printing process, and with the inline spectrophotometers, to automatically modify the viscosity value.

VIS G20

The new G20 system allows the control of the viscosity of solvent based inks and, if necessary, automatically makes corrections by means of the addition of solvent for accurate print quality and to obtain the maximum performance of the flexographic or gravure presses. The system communicates information to the operator in real time and issues a report at the end of the production. The operator can save setup and job parameters for future reprints. It is ideal for 1- to 6-color printing presses, with the possibility of managing it by a single color LCD keyboard or PC.

The G30
The G30

The VIS G20 can be integrated with the G90 ink temperature control system to obtain a stability of temperature, with recommended values between 22 degrees and 25 degrees, and to reduce the generation of foam for an excellent qualitative yield during the printing process.

New Solutions & Market Segments

The G100 has been realized from the experience of GAMA in packaging. It’s an offline system that, by a spectrodensitometer linked to the Viscosity System, reads the density values of the color scale of a printed product, and sends the detected data to the supervisor. In case density data are not in line with the expectations, the GAMA supervisor will set new values of viscosity, for a correct ink/solvent formula of the different colors, in order to obtain the accurate density.

The G150 is a solution linked with the Chromalab, or online spectrodesitometer, installed on the printing press, that enables the management of data in order to compensate color variations. During printing, the inspection system sends, on the fly, the density and L*a*b* data to the ink control system GAMA supervisor and, if the color density or the L*a*b* value have been modified compared to the preferred values, the G150 automatically changes the viscosity value to obtain the correct density and to improve the Delta E.

The G200 is the detection system of ink consumption during the printing process. The processed data, related to the quantity used, allows users to compare the estimate data with the values of ink consumed, for the objective cost calculation of the printed product.

The G300 is a system designed to allow a fast startup in case of reprinting. Using a bar code reader, the operator reads the data reported in a print sample or customer folder and automatically recalls from the supervisor the job archived. The digital job folder contains all the data and viscosity parameters of the various colors, for an immediate calibration of viscometers.

Customers can also check for new updates to facilitate the functionality and ease of use of the currently installed systems, in particular the new software of the G26, that allows to amplify the functions of the system itself.

GAMA cooperates with the R&D departments of flexographic and gravure printing press manufacturers, for continued implementation and integration of their systems in the presses and to offer more benefits to customers. GAMA will continue to use its winning technologies to be recognized as leader in process and quality control systems.
