Daetwyler Announces Flexo Chambered Sealing Doctor Blade

Daetwyler Chamber Sealing Foam Longlife Doctor BladeHUNTERSVILLE, NCDaetwyler Corporation announces the development of a chamber sealing doctor blade for flexographic printing that incorporates a foam tape applied to the doctor blade to provide a positive seal.

Some flexographic presses require foam tape be applied to the doctor blade to prevent chamber leakage, but up to this point doctor blade choices were limited to a few suppliers with even fewer options. Now, as a result of Daetwyler’s ongoing research and development efforts, the company is able to offer foam seals on its entire line of flexographic doctor blades.

“In addition to the variations now available in steel, blade thickness and tip configurations (radius as well as multiple options of bevel and lamella), Daetwyler is also making this foam tape available on its complete line of specialty coated doctor blades,” stated Johnny Stamey, doctor blade technical product manager. “These special coatings are engineered to reduce friction at the contact point, extend wear and blade life, limit streaks and anilox score lines, protect against very abrasive inks (TiO2 whites) and provide the cleanest, sharpest wipe for the highest line screens available used in flexographic HD printing.

Since the successful launch of the standard lamella doctor blade in 1972, Daetwyler has been driven to develop a variety of specialty coated and uncoated doctor blades to solve the most demanding ink transfer challenges faced by flexographic printers.
