American Inks and Coatings Buys Color Resolutions International

SHERIDAN, AR—American Inks and Coatings (AIC) is expected to consummate the acquisition of Color Resolutions International by close of Jan. 2014. As a result of the merger, AIC maintains that it will be the largest supplier to the merchant corrugated market in the U.S. The flexographic ink and coating manufacturer has had a presence in the corrugated business segment stemming from its earlier acquisition of Graphic Sciences.

CRI has established a strong brand in the growing fine graphics niche of the corrugated market, and by its estimate supplies more independent corrugated converters than any of its competitor. CRI will operate as a subsidiary of AIC, continue to be led by George Sickinger, its founder, as it markets to specialty converters aspiring to produce lithographic type quality for value added packaging.

”This is a great move for the people of CRI and for me personally,” Sickinger said. “Since I am planning to retire within the next few years, the merger provides an orderly succession plan and career opportunities for our associates.”

“The combined size of the two companies will bring more resources and a wider range of products to serve the U.S. packaging industry,” said AIC Founder Jerry Mosley. “With the merger, the combined companies are well positioned to focus on the changing needs of both the flexible packaging and corrugated market.
