First Gallus Virtual High Performance Day Is Successful

ST. GALLEN, Switzerland—With more than 1,500 registrations, the Gallus High Performance Day 2021 held on March 3 and 4 was a great success. Using this new digital event format, Gallus demonstrated the highlights of digital and conventional label printing systems. In addition, expert talks informed about different topics like digital label printing with low-migration inks.

The digital advantages of the Gallus Labelfire, including the most relevant technical features, were shown in detail. The print result was a digitally printed, highly embellished label with metallic effect, also applied digitally due to the Digital Embellishment Unit (DEU).

Thomas Schweizer, head of product management, explained the Gallus Labelfire in detail at the first virtual Gallus event.

Regarding conventional narrow web printing, the Gallus Labelmaster was demonstrated as well as the Gallus RCS 430. Participants of the virtual event could follow the production of a shampoo label on clear PP material on the Gallus Labelmaster with integrated Digital Printbar “White Edition.” With this digital module, it is possible to print digital an opaque white or to integrate language changes on different spots of a label. After this demo, the “Game-Changer” label proved that the Gallus RCS 430—in this case with integrated hot foil embossing unit Pantec Rhino—works with a variety of processes and various applications. The Gallus RCS further offers fast and easy setup process.

In the Breakout Sessions, label experts talked in detail about three different topics. Martin Leonhard explained what to consider if printing labels digitally with low-migration inks, Oliver Vetter talked about the advantages of rotative screen printing as well as the easy and fast set prepress process, and Vladimir Tyulpin from Avery Dennison gave insights about the substrate selection for hybrid UV inkjet and flexography.
