2022 FTA Sustainability Excellence Award Recipients Announced

BOHEMIA, NY—FTA has revealed the results of the 2022 FTA Sustainability Excellence Award competition. Two winners and two honorable mentions were chosen out of a record number of entries in the program’s 22-year history.

The announcement was made on Sunday, March 13 during the Awards Banquet at FORUM 2022, FTA’s annual four-day technical conference.

The Sustainability Excellence Award is given to companies who demonstrate a commitment to and pursuit of sustainable package printing in one of two categories: Sustainability Program or Innovations in Sustainability.

The two companies recognized as winners are:

  • Industrias de Plasticos SA de CV (INPLASA), of Valle de Amarateca, Francisco Morazán, Honduras CA, recognized in the Sustainability Programs category for its five-part project focused on clean energy and sustainable waste management
  • Footprint LLC, of Gilbert, AZ, recognized in the Innovations in Sustainability category for its technology in manufacturing plant-based fiber for container packaging

Two companies were also awarded an honorable mention in the Innovations in Sustainability category: Sun Chemical of Parsippany, NJ and TC Transcontinental Packaging of Chicago, IL.

“The surge in entries this year illustrates that even through difficult times, companies recognize the importance of sustainable practices and make them a priority,” said FTA Sustainability Consultant Doreen Monteleone. “We are impressed by the innovative methods the flexographic industry is developing to reduce the environmental impact of printing.”
