Shree Plast Industries is expanding its flexographic printing capabilities with the installation of a SOMA Optima press, adding new automation and production efficiencies as the Indian packaging converter continues growing across food, pharmaceutical and industrial packaging segments.

The installation was completed at Shree Plast’s manufacturing operation in Satara, Maharashtra, India. The company produces laminated flexible packaging and printed poly films serving applications that include bakery, dairy, snack, spice, agrochemical, industrial and pharmaceutical packaging.

According to SOMA, the new Optima 650-880-8 EG press was selected to help reduce setup times, minimize material waste and deliver consistent print quality through advanced automation capabilities. The press installation also supports Shree Plast’s efforts to increase operational efficiency while strengthening production capacity for customized packaging and multicolor printing applications.

“Our goal was to further strengthen print quality while increasing operational efficiency,” Santosh Vaidya, director at Shree Plast Industries, said in the announcement. “SOMA’s Optima and its automation capabilities provide exactly that — a reliable, high-performance solution that supports our growth ambitions.”

The project also reflects continued investment in flexographic automation across the Indian packaging market, where converters increasingly are modernizing operations to improve consistency, reduce waste and respond more efficiently to changing production demands.

For SOMA, the installation adds to the momentum following the company’s recognition earlier this year as the inaugural recipient of the FTA Supplier of the Year Award, which honored contributions to flexographic innovation and industry advancement.
