Printer Pulse

BOHEMIA, NY–Flexographic Technical Association’s latest Printer/Converter Quarterly Pulse Survey reveals a strong sense of optimism across the flexo printer/converter community, with members reporting steady performance and preparing for growth.

Conducted in July 2025, nearly 80 percent of respondents ranked their company’s performance as “good” to “excellent”, with more than half (54 percent) indicating business growth compared to the same timeframe in 2024. Looking ahead, 68 percent projected moderate to strong growth over the next six months, underscoring confidence in both the near-term and long-term prospects of flexography.

That confidence extends beyond short-term performance. Nearly four in five respondents said they are “somewhat” to “very optimistic” about flexo’s long-term future, while 64 percent indicated plans to make capital investments in the next 12 months. FTA sees this as a signal that businesses are preparing to expand capacity and modernize operations.

“Printers and converters are telling us that they are not only performing well today but are preparing for the future with confidence,” said FTA President Nathan Ridnouer. “The industry is embracing innovation, planning for growth, and continuing to invest in its people and technology, even while navigating challenges like staffing.”

The survey also highlights the operational and technological trends shaping the industry. Labor and staffing remain top challenges, echoing concerns voiced in previous surveys. At the same time, respondents identified artificial intelligence and hybrid print technologies as the innovations most likely to reshape their businesses, pointing toward a future defined by both automation and integration.

Conducted quarterly, FTA’s Pulse Survey captures the perspectives of printer/converter members to benchmark industry health, identify challenges, and surface emerging opportunities. With sentiment running high and investment on the horizon, the latest results reinforce the resilience and forward-looking mindset of the flexographic printing community.
