LP2i Étiquettes Implements Hybrid Solution for Extended Content Label Production
French label converter LP2i Étiquettes has installed a digital hybrid printing solution designed to improve the production of extended content labels (ECLs), integrating Domino inkjet technology with Grafotronic web handling and finishing systems.
The configuration combines Domino’s N730i Integration Module and K600i monochrome inkjet printer with finishing and web transport technology from Grafotronic. The system is designed to streamline multi-layer label production, particularly for applications requiring additional on-pack information beyond the capacity of single-layer labels.
A key feature of the approach is the ability to print directly onto the adhesive layer. According to the companies, this reduces the number of production steps, such as repeated unwinding and rewinding, while enabling more efficient handling of multi-layer constructions, including peel-and-reveal formats.
The N730i provides 1200 dpi print resolution and can operate at speeds up to 90 meters per minute in high-speed mode. High-opacity white ink is used to create a consistent background for printing fine details, including small text elements. The K600i adds variable data and 2D codes, supporting customization across multiple label layers.
An inspection system from Lake Image Systems is integrated to monitor print quality and verify codes, while Grafotronic equipment supports material handling and layer assembly during finishing.
LP2i Étiquettes reports that the system has contributed to improvements in productivity, consistency and material efficiency, while expanding its capabilities in extended content label production.
The installation reflects broader industry interest in ECL solutions as brands seek to accommodate increasing regulatory and informational requirements within limited label space.
