FORUM 2021’s Chairs Explain the Event’s Focus on Efficiency & Productivity

INFOFLEX

FLEXO: After last year, the need for efficient package printing and converting is clearer than ever. INFOFLEX 2021’s theme, “Game Changing Technologies,” will be an opportunity to see solutions designed to do exactly that, right?

Farrell: This is the attendee’s opportunity to expand on what was learned during the sessions. Seeing technology and live demos can help hone in on determining what is next for your company regarding new technologies. Our best advice is to come with questions and key companies you’d like to connect with at INFOFLEX. Experts in their fields will be at every booth. This is a great opportunity to have your questions answered, engage in technical discussions, and of course, have fun and connect with industry friends.

FLEXO: There is undoubtedly pent-up demand for the kind of one-on-one interaction INFOFLEX provides. What does the virtual environment add to that interaction, for both attendees and exhibitors?

Wright: All of the “projects” you have put off because of travel restrictions due to the pandemic—This is the time to engage and get the one-on-one information you need to make them happen and get them done. As pent-up as you have been, the vendors are just as pent-up, if not more so.

Farrell: We all wished we could get together in person and have that one-on-one interaction. While we need to wait a bit longer, a virtual space for INFOFLEX has a lot of tools to maximize your interactions, gather to see exhibitors, visit their virtual booths, and take advantage of the socializing aspect.

FLEXO: Every exhibitor has a 10-minute presentation slot during INFOFLEX’s five days. The schedule avoids any overlapping to enable attendees to sit in on each one. How valuable is having a full roster of solutions providers ready to provide detailed, technical explanations of how they can improve?

Farrell: Having a schedule in place that doesn’t overlap allows attendees to go to every presentation that is relevant to their business and interests, without having to pick and choose. It is a major advantage of the virtual format for these brief but informative presentations. This is the time to sit back, relax, and gather the technical detail and specifics about technology that are meaningful to you and your business.

FLEXO: Attendees can download brochures and pamphlets, watch live demonstrations and educational videos, and establish business contacts to expand their network after INFOFLEX ends. Does the experience of going to INFOFLEX continue to pay dividends after the event ends?

Wright: We always try to express how much information you can take back to your plant or office, and it’s true for FORUM as well as INFOFLEX. The information that can be obtained for improvements in your facility is second to none.

Farrell: The ability to access all of these resources after the event provides flexibility for your schedule and allows you to focus and review the information that is pertinent to your business. We often don’t capture everything during a live presentation; sometimes we need to hear details again to understand and capture the specifics. Being able to go back to a company to review, replay and relisten adds to the longevity of the content being delivered. Also, the ability to establish industry contacts after the event is fantastic, as we don’t always have the time to connect with everyone we want to during the live event.

Other Event Highlights

FLEXO: The Awards Presentation is where recipients of FTA’s most-coveted honors and awards are announced. Whether it’s in person or online, why is it important to continue to recognize award winners?

Wright: While a lot of us moved into the “home office,” the work did not stop. Great print is still happening. And so an opportunity to “show off” and be recognized is important.

Farrell: We all worked very hard in 2020 to achieve our goals and produce excellent print. Now is the time to recognize and support each other for those outstanding efforts.

FLEXO: The Virtual Social carries the same goals as both FORUM and INFOFLEX, providing a relaxed atmosphere for technical discourse and problem solving.

Farrell: Yes, it is a great event to come unwind, socialize, and enjoy some live entertainment. Take advantage of this time to get to know one another better outside of the meeting format. It’s a favorite event to meet new people and connect with those you haven’t seen in a while. We look forward to seeing you there!
