Royal Geostick Expands Flexo Capabilities to Meet Rising Multilayer Label Demand

Royal Geostick Group is further strengthening its production capabilities with the addition of a new 12-color BOBST MASTER M5 flexo press, positioning the company to address increasing demand for high-volume multilayer label applications across Europe.

The new press, scheduled for installation at the company’s Uithoorn, Netherlands facility, has been specifically configured for efficiency and scale. Equipped with 12 flexo units, a double unwinder, QN module, and oneECG readiness, the MASTER M5 is designed to support medium- and long-run production while maintaining consistent quality and minimizing waste.

The investment reflects a broader strategic shift for Royal Geostick as market requirements evolve particularly in response to upcoming regulatory changes. Beginning in July 2026, EU Regulation 2024/2865 will introduce stricter labeling requirements, increasing the need for expanded on-label information and more complex formatting. As a result, multilayer labels are becoming an increasingly critical solution for brands seeking compliance without compromising design or space.

By expanding its conventional flexo capabilities alongside its existing digital platforms, Royal Geostick is aiming to create a more balanced and flexible production environment. The company has already invested in multiple All-in-One DIGITAL MASTER systems, and the addition of the MASTER M5 enables it to more efficiently handle longer runs and specialized multilayer applications.

According to Cees Schouten, COO of Royal Geostick, the decision was driven by the need for both productivity and precision. “We are seeing a clear increase in demand for multilayer labels and longer run jobs,” he said. “This investment allows us to deliver high-quality output with greater efficiency, while reducing waste and maintaining the level of service our customers expect.”

The MASTER M5 platform is built for high-throughput production, offering automation, fast changeovers, and precise register control. Integration with BOBST Connect also enables improved workflow visibility and data management, supporting more consistent and sustainable production at scale.

Jordi Giralt, Technology Sales Director for Labels at BOBST, noted that Royal Geostick’s approach reflects a broader industry direction. “Converters are increasingly combining digital and conventional technologies to optimize performance across different run lengths,” he said. “This kind of hybrid strategy is becoming essential for meeting both market demands and operational efficiency goals.”

With this latest investment, Royal Geostick continues to expand its ability to serve a wide range of applications from short-run digital jobs to high-volume flexo production while maintaining a focus on quality, sustainability, and regulatory readiness.
