Virtual Reality Training for Tomorrow’s Flexographer

Presented by Bobby Congdon of the Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design and Graphics at Clemson University

To help address the training and workforce recruitment needs of the flexographic industry, Clemson University is currently developing STRIPE VR, a virtual reality printing simulation. STRIPE VR is designed to demonstrate flexographic printing concepts and variables in a manner which is safe, consistent, immersive and highly deployable.

Using a high-end consumer virtual reality headset, a trainee can be virtually placed alongside a flexographic press, and is able to manipulate things such as impression, anilox selection, mounting tape and more, all while witnessing both visual and measurable changes to the print. Join Bobby as he explores the future development for this exciting platform, along with a live demonstration of the technology.
