2023 FTA Sustainability Excellence Award Recipients Announced

BOHEMIA, NY—Two winners and two honorable mentions were selected in the 2023 FTA Sustainability Excellence Award competition, recognizing companies commitment to and pursuit of sustainable package printing.

The four accolades were announced on Sunday, April 16 during the Awards Banquet at FORUM & INFOFLEX 2023, FTA’s annual four-day technical conference and exhibition.

Winning their respective categories are:

  • RKW Finland Oy and Marvaco Oy, in the Sustainability Programs category, for their expanded gamut printing solution that, among other benefits, eliminates spot colors, reduces ink and VOC volumes, and shortens setup time
  • Sun Chemical Corp, in the Innovations in Sustainability category—and following its 2022 honorable mention—for its proposed monoweb structure alternative to lamination that saves adhesives, film, processing time and label weight

Receiving an honorable mention are AWT Labels & Packaging (in the Sustainability Programs category) and Siegwerk (in the Innovations in Sustainability category).

“The FTA Sustainability Excellence Awards highlights the phenomenal work the flexographic industry does to help improve our environment and society,” said FTA Sustainability Consultant Doreen Monteleone. “Every entry demonstrated leadership, forward thinking and a willingness to do better. It was difficult to narrow down the winners. We are pleased to recognize those that made a transformative impact on sustainability in flexography.”
