How Meyers Takes Brand Owner Demands & Expectations to the Next Level

The industry is struggling right now with lead times, given the market pressures of the supply chain. Our operations team has done a remarkable job finding alternative ways to keep our customers’ and prospects’ lines running. A lot of this is because we are large enough for our vendors to really care about us and small enough to care about each of our customers… not just our bottom line. Being just the right size, plus having the ability to quickly create, adapt and replace processes, have allowed us to be the best possible partner to leading brands.

Next-Level Partner

One of our exciting partnerships has been with Bearsville Soap and Tocci Made. Bearsville had a challenge and, with Tocci Made’s help, ended up consulting with Meyers to solve a unique challenge.

As part of a rebrand, Bearsville wanted to get new labels, new cartons with two-sided printing, and labels and cartons that are a perfect color match to each other. After reviewing the scope, Meyers was up to the challenge. It embraced our belief, “Form and functionality at a budget-friendly price define the ‘Goldilocks Zone’ of packaging, where folding cartons live.”

Innovation is brought to life through numerous 41-in. to 80-in. lithographic presses, co-mingled with flexographic, digital and hybrid presses in Meyers’ plant.

Bearsville creates personal care products using all natural ingredients. Its hope was to create sustainable packaging that more clearly expressed the various fragrances of the products. In preparing to roll out a refreshed brand—including updated packaging—it enlisted help from Tocci Made, a bespoke print consulting company with a similar passion for excellence and craftsmanship. Compounding the challenge, Bearsville needed folding cartons or labels for nearly 30 different SKUs, including some small-batch, limited edition products.

Meyers helped accomplish the objectives by using sustainably sourced materials and creating a novel approach to printing the packaging and labels. All paper products are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified and the packages are curb-side recyclable. Meyers created a unique process for printing the folding cartons by leveraging our flexographic/digital hybrid press (an MPS Symjet, powered by Domino). This allowed us to print the entire package, including both sides, in a single pass. This created a highly efficient process allowing for cost-effective production of many SKUs. The same press was used for the labels to ensure excellent brand consistency.

Noel Tocci, founder of Tocci Made, clearly states, “Effective and impactful print communication always lives at the intersection of great design, appropriate materials and thoughtfully curated execution.” I’m gratified to point out that Meyers lives by similar commitments, including environmental compliance.

We’re a proud supporter of the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP), the FSC and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). Additionally, Meyers is an SGP certified printer and holds G7 Master Qualification, 11 years running; plus, we’re certified by AIB International for direct food contact. We staunchly believe in validating our capabilities at the highest level of global industry standards and specifications.
