Converting Equipment International Ships 500th Machine

COLUMBIA FALLS, MTConverting Equipment International recently celebrated a milestone, shipping serial number 500 slitter/rewinder to Mat Taylor of Revolution Print and Packaging located in Orem, UT.

“Todd Kotila, CEI’s director of business development suggested we have a little fun with it,” said COO, Curtis McQuade, “so we let Mat pick a special color and we badged it a ‘special edition.’ Someone suggested we post a time-lapse video of the machine being built on our website. It’s been a really fun project for a great customer.”

CEO and co-owner of CEI, Simon Gross, tells the story: “Mat traveled to northern California, back in the early days. I think we only had seven employees at that time, and we were competing against a goliath in the industry. Mat had sent us a bunch of material to convert and expected it to take all day. We finished it in 90 minutes and decided to spend the rest of the day shooting clay pigeons. Now that we’re in Montana, right outside Glacier National Park, most buyers want to go fly-fishing or site seeing.”

In addition to slitter/rewinders, CEI is known for manufacturing die cutters, inspection equipment and custom-built machines. CEI’s latest success is in digital finishers and digital hybrid presses, such as the popular CEI BossJet powered by Domino.

Revolution Print and Packaging, founded by Mat Taylor, Troy Garlick and Becky Francis, opened its doors in July of 2017.

“We’re adding the CEI slitter to boost our rewind speed and because of the awesome tension controls and advantages it gives us with flexible packaging,” said Mat.
