FTA to Sign Wisconsin Green Tier Charter

BOHEMIA, NY – September 23, 2015 – On Sept. 30, 2015, the Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) will be among other print associations to sign a charter agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WI DNR) to foster compliance and encourage superior environmental performance.

The Charter will work in tandem with the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP), which has similarities to the Wisconsin Green Tier program. A formal signing event and press conference will be held in Milwaukee at the site of the first SGP certified facility to also enter into WI Green Tier, Visual Impressions. Among the signers are Secretary of the WI DNR Cathy Stepp and representatives of FTA, Specialty Graphic Imaging Association and Great Lakes Graphics Association. A reception and tour of Visual Impressions will follow the signing.

“The signing of the Green Tier Program’s Printing Industry Charter further acknowledges the importance of the SGP program to the entire printing industry. By formally recognizing SGP as an alternative environmental management system, Green Tier has opened the doors for printers to choose to become both SGP certified and a part of Wisconsin’s innovative regulatory program,” states Paul Lilienthal, SGP Chair of the Board. “We here at SGP look forward to working with the state on this great initiative.”

Doreen Monteleone, FTA’s sustainability consultant adds, “This is an important step for both FTA and SGP. A formal relationship will have long-term implications in the ability for the associations to communicate the needs of their members to the state and find mutual agreement to the benefit of the industry and the environment. For SGP, the charter adds to the recognition it has been receiving by state agencies and unifies the mutual benefits of the Green Tier and SGP programs.”

FTA printer members in Wisconsin have an open invitation to attend the charter signing in Milwaukee. Learn more about the charter here. For more information contact Doreen Monteleone at 631-319-0319.
