FTA Inducts Lon Robinson into Hall of Fame, Recognizes his Passion for Print from Pressman Trainee to Director R&D

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, May 6,2018–Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) inducted its 56th member, Lon Robinson, into its prestigious Hall of Fame tonight during the Awards Banquet held at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown. The event was held in conjunction with Forum & INFOFLEX, the conference and exhibition where Lon is a staple.

Following in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps, Lon is a third generation Tension Corp employee. He started as a pressman trainee and over the past 39 years has worked his way up to ink technician, print lead and then moved into prepress where he held various roles as technician, lead and manager. After becoming composing lead, he was a technical assistant for seven years before advancing to director of technology. Finally, in 2012 he earned the role director of research and development, where he remains today.

Lon’s passion for printing, obviously displayed through his career at Tension, spills well over into FTA and its endeavors, where he became a member in 2000. Aside from attending the Association’s various Forums, Fall Conferences, and webinars, Lon has whole-heartedly given his blood, sweat, and time to serving on the FTA Board of Directors and FFTA Board of Trustees. He is the recipient of the 2012 President’s Award and chaired the Flexographic Image Reproduction Specifications & Tolerances(FIRST) Committee for two years. He co-chaired Fall Conference 2015 and has spoken at multiple Forums and Fall Conferences as well. Over the years, he has judged entries in the Technical Innovation and Excellence in Flexography Awards and has served on the Awards Committee, where he will become the committee chair at Forum 2018.

Lon resides in Kansas City, MO with his wife of 17 years, Becky, and their two dogs (aka children) Sophie and Chorizo. When he’s not at work, or tirelessly giving his energy to FTA, he travels the world with his wife by his side. He has left countless imprints of kindness and gentle leadership, provided unlimited mentorship to so many in the flexographic industry and is dedicated to keeping his company and his industry current in the latest industry technologies. FTA is proud to add Lon Robinson to the list of esteemed colleagues already inducted to the Hall of Fame and will forever appreciate what he has done for the Association and the industry itself.
