NASHVILLE, TN – May 3, 2015 – With a large surge in entries, Flexographic Technical Association’s (FTA) 2015 Excellence in Flexography Awards saw fierce competition and some of the best print jobs in the competition’s 55-year history. Winners were unveiled tonight before an audience of hundreds at FTA’s Annual Awards Banquet at the Omni Nashville, in Nashville, TN.
Three months ago, 35 members of the flexographic community donned their judging hats and journeyed to Long Island, NY to evaluate more than 450 entries submitted into the 2015 awards competition. There they appraised the entries for vibrant color, fine dots, seamless fades, and exacting registrations, just to name a few winning characteristics. All told, 106 medals and awards were endowed, consisting of:
- 38 gold medals
- 37 silver medals
- 29 bronze medals
- 6 best of show honors, given to the very best gold medal winning entries
- 1 special achievement award
- 1 non-traditional award
Taking home “Best of Show” honors in the 2015 Excellence in Flexography Awards were:
- Sunshine FPC, Inc., for its Smoke Salmon Red Caviar Wrapper
- Golden Era Group, for its Kellogg’s Ke Festive Nine-9 Coco Pops Cereal Box
- Great Little Box Co., for its Vega One All-In-One Nutritional Shake Label
- Wellpappe Auerswalde GmbH, for its Samsung Curved 55-in. UHDTV Box
- International Paper’s Preprint Liner Division, for its Avocados 5 Down Tray
- Mac Papers Envelope Converters, Inc., for its Dish Game Of Thrones Envelope
Sunshine FPC, Inc., Wellpappe Auerswalde GmbH and Mac Papers Envelope Converters, Inc. have brought home the Best of Show designation multiple times for FTA’s Excellence in Flexography awards.
“The quality of the print entries this year has pushed the execution and difficulty to a new level,” said Judge Timothy Esselman, senior prepress team leader at RockTenn Merchandising Display. “From older machines to newer more complex units, the competition has driven innovation to preprint and combined packaging.”
In addition to tonight’s gala banquet, the award winners will be showcased throughout both days of FTA’s 2015 INFO*FLEX (May 4-5 in Nashville, TN) in the Excellence Award Winner’s Gallery on the show floor.
