Master Packaging, Inc. Earns FTA TEST Leadership Award

Master Packaging FIRST Event photoBALTIMORE, MD – April 27, 2014 –After attending 2012 Forum, Mary Jean Irving, president and chief executive officer of Master Packaging, Inc., became aware of the Flexographic Image Reproduction Specifications & Tolerances (FIRST) Certification program. Her company immediately began exploring how FIRST works, the various certification levels and how to enroll employees.

Two years later, Master Packaging has more than 350 Level I, II and III certifications among its workers and another 116 certifications currently underway. In recognition of the work that Irving and her team have accomplished in their pursuit of adhering to industry standards and becoming a more efficient company, Master Packaging has been awarded the 2014 TEST (FTA’s Technical Education Services Team) Educational Leadership Award.

“We are very honored to be awarded the TEST Educational Leadership Award,” said Irving. “We recognize that employee education and training is vital for Master Packaging, as we are an independent packaging manufacturer located in Eastern Canada. Because of our location, we are far from what would be considered the manufacturing hub of Canada; therefore, employee training in our processes and industries is instrumental to our success. It is exciting to be recognized for our efforts.”

Master Packaging was founded in 1996 with the construction of a corrugated sheet processing plant in Borden, Prince Edward Island (PEI). Within two years, corrugated volume increased to support the construction of a state of the art corrugating plant in Dieppe, New Brunswick. In 2004, Master Packaging established a green field state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for folding carton in Borden, PEI.
