Printpack Leading Charge to Durable, Large Format Bags

ATLANTA, GA—Multiwall paper bags have been a staple in the packaging of large bulk dry goods for decades and are certainly an improvement over their predecessor, the burlap sack. However, this format remains riddled with issues including tearing, breakage and infestation, causing limitations on outdoor storage.

Brand owners and retailers are losing valuable product due to waste resulting from multiwall paper bag deficiencies. Loss of product translates to less profit.

The woven polypropylene bag offers the most efficient flexible material combinations possible. Woven plastic provides superior product protection with less material than multiwall paper bags. The rugged construction reduces damage by as much as 10 percent while maintaining premium appearance. Woven polypropylene bag materials have a smaller environmental footprint than multiwall paper structures and are increasingly recovered for recycling.

Printpack woven polypropylene bags are available with easy open and reclose options that add convenience for consumers. Filled on existing machinery, these bags can be closed and sealed by sewing or with adhesive. The bags can also be designed with a step cut that offers the flexibility of hot air sealing. Hot air sealing creates more sturdy seals without the use of adhesives, thread or other consumables.  In addition to being less expensive, hot air sealing enables productivity improvements in excess of 25 percent.

“The addition of Woven Polypropylene bags to Printpack’s portfolio continues our commitment to providing superior packaging products and materials that meet and exceed the individual and collective expectations of our customers, retailers and consumers,” said James Taylor, Printpack business development manager.  “We protect our customer’s brand promise by weaving quality, innovation and sustainability into every bag.”
