HOBART, WIMPS North America recently introduced a new business partner—EMT International, its designated U.S. based press assembler—as well as it EF multisubstrate press to some 130 members of the converting community.

The daylong event, staged at Thornberry Creek Country Club and EMT International, both located in Hobart, WI; took place April 28. It combined technical briefings, tabletop exhibitions/networking sessions and live print demonstrations. The focus was on quick changeover, on the fly job transitions and world class finishing equipment.

Presenters on hand were: MPS’ Denny McGee, Wim van den Bosch and Kees Nijenhuis, and EMT’s Paul Raucher and Jim Driscoll. That team was joined by local politicians—County Executive Troy Steckenbach, Brown County, WI; and Hobart Village President Richard Heidel—in lauding the significance of the partnership to the community.

Raucher, CEO of EMT, indicated his team saw an exciting future in bringing a high quality press to the marketplace. His staff of 170 will assemble and service MPS presses in North America in addition to designing, machining, assembling and servicing its own digital finishing equipment portfolio.

Van den Bosch, CEO of MPS, pledged to guarantee the lowest cost per thousand labels printed and credited the separation of web transport from printing functions with driving performance. Nijenhuis similarly highlighted critical features of the press designed to reduce friction, maintain stable press register and minimize dot gain. He, like McGee, indicated that the EF model’s multisubstrate capabilities support transition from paper to film on the fly, will enhance label printers’ transition to flexible packaging converters.

Tabletop exhibitors included: Avery Dennison, AVT, CC1, Danko Industries, DCM, DMS, EMT, Flexair, Graymills, Green Bay Packaging, Harper Corporation of America, Kocher + Beck, Kodak, Martin Automatic, Meca Technology, MPS, Retroflex and Zeller+Gmelin.
