HINGHAM, MA—GMG Americas, the U.S. based office of Germany based GMG, a leading developer and supplier of high end color management software solutions, announces that Joe Varone has been promoted to president, and Paulo Monteiro to VP sales at GMG Americas. This is in response to successful sales in the Americas and an expanded GMG product portfolio that requires additional direction and attention.

Joe has not only built a successful sales organization that has resulted in significant growth, but also has undertaken general management responsibilities, overseeing the GMG Americas organization based in the U.S. With his new position, he will yield his day to day sales activities to Paulo and concentrate solely on general management and strategic initiatives, overseeing all corporate departments.

“GMG Americas has seen growth not only in revenues, but also in the product portfolio we all manage at GMG that is targeted to a wider swath of graphics, printing and packaging companies,” explains Ian Scott, managing director, GmbH & Co. KG. “This presents exceptional opportunity for us, but also requires more, directed attention towards strategic planning. Joe has demonstrated that he is a very capable senior general and sales management professional, not only at GMG but also in previous career roles. We are very fortunate that he is directing our interests in the Americas.”

Paulo, previously business director, Latin America, GMG Americas, has been an executive at GMG for nearly 10 years. He has been responsible for building and managing distribution channels for GMG color management solutions throughout Central and South America. In doing so, he has built a strong sales and service group that has taken GMG from virtually no presence at all to a very effective organization. Paulo is now responsible for increasing GMG’s coverage not only in Latin America, but in the rest of North America, increasing and fortifying geographical coverage in all regions of the U.S. and Canada. An example is the recent appointment of Bill DeWall in the North Central U.S.

“I am fortunate to be able to relinquish my day to day sales role to Paulo—a very successful and organized manager. Paulo is unique in that he not only has exceptional technical color management skills, but also has proven talent in building and supporting our distribution channels. It makes this transition pretty much seamless for all of us, other than that we can expect even more attention to sales opportunities and take advantage of organizational opportunities,” comments Joe. “Paulo has already taken on this role, and will help to drive our efforts at Labelexpo and SGIA in September.”
