Custom Labels Installs Mark Andy Performance Series P5

Mark Andy Custom LabelsST. LOUIS, MOCustom Labels, the converting company founded in 1999 by Abraham Rubin, has installed one of Mark Andy’s Performance Series P5 presses in its new double size production facility in New Jersey. The 7-color narrow web flexo press equipped with delam/relam capability, has a 13-in. web width, and was chosen for its ability to produce the high quality work that the company’s customers demand.

Speaking for Custom Labels, Rubin explained: “The Mark Andy P5 combines speed with precision and is remarkably easy to operate. In fact, our pressmen have required very little training and are already obtaining outstanding results, including one difficult job that requires the use of a re moistenable adhesive.” Once conversant with the P5’s full capability, Custom Labels anticipates adding considerably to its overall capacity and productivity.

Currently running a single shift and producing predominantly paper based labels, Rubin plans to use the P5 to develop his business into the film label and flexible packaging markets. With 95 percent of its prepress handled in house and the added capacity of a new CTC turret rewinder due to be installed in the first quarter of 2016, Custom Labels is predicting a three fold growth in business over the next few years.

According to Rubin, the addition of the P5 to existing Mark Andy 4120 capacity, and both Rotoflex and Arpeco inspection rewinders, is the key element in that growth plan. “We need to meet and exceed the expectations of our customers, and also try to anticipate their future demands—the flexible capacity of a Mark Andy’s Performance Series press will allow us to do that.”
