Domino Video Introduces New Digital UV Inkjet Printer

GURNEE, ILDomino has created a brand new video, which introduces its new K600i dual bar, dual speed digital UV inkjet printer, demonstrated in the Domino booth at Labelexpo Americas.

Dressed in a naval aviator flight suit, like the one worn by Maverick in the 1986 movie “Top Gun,” Domino Variable Data Solutions Manager Gary Peterson demonstrates the new K600i dual bar, dual speed digital UV inkjet printer.

Gary introduces the K600i dual bar, dual speed UV inkjet printer as a system that will “enhance and double your productivity while opening up new business opportunities for you.” The Domino K600i prints variable data, including bar codes, QR codes, sequential numbering and more. It integrates onto flexo label presses, rewinders, and finishing systems allowing you to maximize the value of your existing assets. Below are a few examples of how variable data is being utilized today.

Variable data applications:

  • Track product throughout the logistics supply chain
  • Traceability for food safety and product authentication
  • Shopper engagement and feedback tools/programs
  • Loyalty, gaming and promotional opportunities
  • Meet requirements for state, federal, or global mandates

What markets are served by variable data?

  • Logistics and reverse logistics
  • Food safety
  • Track and trace
  • Promotional gaming and loyalty
  • RFID integrations

Gary asks the audience, “How many times have you had a large variable data opportunity that you could not bid on due to lack of capacity? Or that you could not meet deadlines due to turnaround time of projects with variable data, or that you had to schedule additional shifts and overtime to meet customer expectations?” To illustrate the solution, the Domino K600i dual bar, dual speed UV inkjet printer takes flight.

“Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to buzz the tower. What we are producing here is a tracking bar code that is commonly used on Amazon packages. We’re running it at 600 x 600 dpi resolution at 492 fpm. This allows you to produce over 29,000 linear feet per hour. Running that on the 13.3-in. wide K600i dual bar enables 650,000 bar codes printed per hour. And the dual bar system is also available in other size configurations. We have a 17.55-in. wide unit (which would integrate on a 16-in. press), that will produce over 826,000 bar codes an hour. Also available is a 21.96-in. wide unit (which would integrate on a 20-in. press), which will produce over 1 million bar codes in an hour.”

The Domino K600i dual bar, dual speed digital UV inkjet printer is based on the same platform as the successful K600i single bar digital UV inkjet printer, which has more than 350 installations. It has been a tried and true “money-making machine” for customers for several years, according to Domino. And now the dual bar, dual speed system is geared to take label printer converters’ production to the next level.

Gary concludes, “The Domino K600i dual bar, dual speed unit will allow you to double your production speeds, reduce your hourly cost of operation, allow you to put other jobs on your press with the increased capacity you will have, and most importantly, it will allow you to make more money on your existing assets. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I do feel the need for speed, and I hope you do as well.”

The demonstration was performed in the Domino booth at Labelexpo Americas 2018. It features the Domino K600i dual bar, dual speed UV inkjet printer integrated on a Delta ModTech finishing system, and substrate material provided by Green Bay Packaging.
