About Gary Hilliard:
Gary was an active member of FTA and the industry, volunteering his time and expertise to chair numerous committees focused on the development and technology of flexography. He authored numerous articles and was a significant contributor to FTA’s FIRST Design Guide. Gary served as chair of the FFTA in 2008-2010, was a former member of the FTA Board of Directors and was the recipient of several FTA Awards. He was a member of the FQC Executive Committee and a founding member and chair of the Standards Working Group. Gary supported the mission of the FQC by demonstrating the commitment it takes to foster success and progress. After four decades promoting the science and research of the flexographic process, Gary was inducted into the FTA Hall of Fame. It is in recognition of Gary’s drive and passion that was the impetus of the FFTA/Gary Hilliard Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by Flexo Quality Consortium (FQC Executive Committee).
The Flexo Quality Consortium (FQC) is a standing committee of the Foundation of FTA (FFTA). The FQC’s mission is to provide the industry with a better understanding of the factors controlling the quality of the flexographic printing process. FQC projects investigate selected process variables in order to further develop reproducible processes that allow for measurable advancements in flexographic printing technology. The FQC actively participates in the global graphic standards committees and associations in researching and representing the flexographic printing process and validating FIRST recommendations.
