The flexo industry is seeing an increase of recycled corrugated board entering the market, resulting in a more difficult substrate on which to print. The board liners are getting thinner, causing paper to enter the valleys of the printing mediums and making it more difficult to print a uniform solid. The need for more impression is needed to cover the solid, which jeopardizes the edge crush value of the board. DuPont™ Cyrel® DLC is a new, softer plate that conforms to this uneven surface and provides a smoother ink laydown. The plate also provides a better impression latitude for the press operators – a key benefit since board and presses have wide ranging variation.
