FILE PREPARATION FOR SUCCESSFUL PRINT PRODUCTION

FILE PREPARATION FOR SUCCESSFUL PRINT PRODUCTION

File preparation for flexography and digital differs from technology to technology, and from press type to press type.

Consider flexography, where we have the ability to not only print 4-color process but also utilize spot colors; whereas with digital, we are forced to rely solely on process color reproduction.

Witness the magic of prepress and how, through the use of today’s color management techniques, we are able to produce matching products.

Then, through an examination of print samples printed utilizing both technologies, hear the production stories from the prepress technician and press operator on how proper file preparation streamlines the process.

CHAT WITH THE CHAIR

Making the “New” the “Normal”

Ken Pavett, Flexografix & Chris Wermes, Steinhauser

Amidst a pandemic, with no prior working relationship and about 30 days behind schedule, two companies—Flexografix and Steinhauser—came together to graciously produce a hand sanitizer label print sample to be used at Virtual Fall Conference 2020.

Working together, they integrated advanced screening and characterized both flexographic and digital presses to a common standard. Ken and Chris will tell their story from both perspectives. Both in prepress and on the pressroom floor, many things were learned, and they look forward to sharing the experience with attendees.

PRINT SAMPLES

This session features two print samples—one printed flexographically, the other printed digitally—that will be dissected and discussed by its speakers.

After registering for Virtual Fall Conference 2020, you will receive your own print samples in the mail, to study in person and follow along.
