Print Contrast – The Secret Weapon to Jaw- Dropping Shelf Impact
Speaker: Alexander James, Kodak

Contrast and flexo are two words that have never before been used together.   Without contrast, packaging lacks the vibrancy, shadow and highlight image detail that is necessary for products to jump off the shelf.  Attend this session to discover how the Kodak Flexcel NX System produces contrast utilizing its revolutionary technology, the NX Advantage.  We’ll share how the NX Advantage holds the smallest dots, produces 99 percent reverses, expands the tonal range and more!  After the session, visit Kodak at booth #601 to view comparisons that prove why the NX Advantage is flexo’ s secret weapon.

3:00 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.
Locking In on Color Targets
Speaker: Jim Felsberg, Sun Chemical Corp.

Color has been important for centuries but in today’s fast paced consumer landscape, color can convey more than graphic images–it can be the very essence of the brand’s identity.  Expanded Color Gamut (ECG) printing allows printers and brand owners alike to lock in on their brand color equity and help pressroom operators to streamline their printing process.  Color can denote the freshness of an item or a leading brand versus the competitive products.  This presentation will explore the inputs and measurement systems using ECG inks.

3:25 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.
Continuous Innovation: The Latest Flat-Top Dot Technology Developments
Speakers: Ryan Vest, Brian Cook, MacDermid Graphics Solutions

A brief review of MacDermid’s LUX® Flat-Top Dot strategy and how the most recent developments within that technology platform are providing innovative solutions for flexo printers.

3:50 p.m. – 4:10 p.m.
The Significant Impact of Reduced Plate Impression
Speaker: Rick Pomerenka, Printron

The key to quality flexo printing has always been to ink the plates and transfer the ink to the substrate with the least amount of impression.  Over impression causes all kinds of issues, including: dirty printing, distortion of images, poorly reading bar codes, poor color to color register and just generally poor looking graphics. Although some substrates require additional impression, Printron’s proprietary Quantum Digital FMD Sheet Photopolymer conforms to the print surface, allowing better ink transfer and enhanced image reproduction. It allows you to print with more impression without adversely affecting dot gain.

4:15 p.m. – 4:35 p.m.
The Choice is EASY: DuPont Cyrel EASY EPC Delivers High Quality
Speaker: Bob Hannum, DuPont Advanced Printing

Last year, DuPont Advanced Printing announced the launch of the newest addition to the DuPont™ Cyrel® EASY plate platform, DuPont™ Cyrel® EASY EPC, developed especially for the post-print corrugated market. Learn more about how customers are simplifying their plate making workflow and seeing improved print results, particularly, a reduction in fluting.  Cyrel® EASY EPC delivers the highest quality image reproduction while minimizing the fluting effect when printing on a wide variety of corrugated boards

Pinning Technology: Helping Converters Produce Faster, Better & Cheaper
Speaker: Dieter Niederstadt, Asahi Photoproducts

Pinning Technology for Clean Transfer is a unique Asahi plate technology that is specifically engineered to transfer all remaining ink to the print substrate, due to the photopolymer plates having a lower surface energy. Not only does this deliver stunning graphic quality, but it also improves overall production efficiencies (OEE)! Due to reduced make-ready waste, fewer plate changes and fewer press wash-ups are necessary. This technology also ensures the precise plate-to-plate registration required to effectively employ the expanded gamut (7C) printing process.

2:35 p.m. – 2:55 p.m.
The Polymount Film Cleaner: The Next Big Thing
Speaker: David Zeh, Polymount US
