INFOFLEX 2019 Recap
Flexographic printers are expanding their offerings, supporting their traditional, analog presses with digital and hybrid machines. They are looking beyond single market segments, bringing in-house the equipment and capabilities to add new formats and sizes to their offerings. They are seeking the newest technologies to automate and streamline operations, replacing and upgrading at a quicker pace than ever before. They are looking for the latest and greatest…
and they found it at INFOFLEX 2019.
At just fewer than 300 booths, INFOFLEX 2019 was the second-largest installment in the show’s 37-year history. Where this year’s event did set records was in the amount of machinery on the show floor inside New Orleans’ Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Nearly 20 percent of all exhibitors brought converting equipment to their booths, offering attendees the rare, and otherwise time-consuming and costly, opportunity to see in person everything from label presses to plate mounters and anilox cleaners to solvent recycling systems.
Answering that call to diversify, well over 100 exhibitors catered to each print application: labels, folding carton, corrugated direct print and flexible packaging. Printers spoke to press manufacturers to learn the ins and outs of their flexo, digital and hybrid machines. Walking down one of the show’s eight aisles, attendees saw premedia service providers next to doctor blade manufacturers, inks and substrate suppliers alongside measurement and process control tool vendors, along with companies specializing in plate mounters and processors, environmental and hazard processing, materials handling and storage, and every other niche.
