Fall Conference 2019 Session 8: The Winners Circle
Session 8: The Winners Circle
Let the celebration begin! The optimization was successful. The curves are in place. Our printer’s control target is set. We have a profile. It’s time for production.
Fall Conference 2019 ends by putting the virtual reality (VR) press into production mode and producing the final piece live. With samples in hand, we will examine the challenging print components—once considered too difficult for flexography—while discussing modern techniques used today.
Running the Final Piece
Bobby Congdon, Clemson University
Christopher Teachout, Daetwyler Corp
Bobby and Chris will fire up the VR press one last time, to run the final printed piece.
Sample Dissection of Production Work in a CRPC Workflow
Mark Samworth, Esko
The final presentation in the final session will focus on the final printed piece—the FLEXO Magazine cover—both visually and numerically. First, checking the numbers on the control elements to see if they are close to CRPC-6. Then, a visual comparison of the flexographically-printed cover to the CRPC-6 proof of the cover (They should look virtually identical). Next, a comparison of the flexographically-printed cover to the offset-printed cover—If both match CRPC-6, then they should match each other. Lastly, hear a discussion what steps might be taken in the event they don’t match (Hint: We won’t start tweaking the press).
