Udi Arieli
Director of Product Management, EFI, Inc.

Udi holds bachelors degrees in economics, business administration and computer science from Hebrew University in Israel, and holds a technical degree in electronics engineering. He has been actively involved with the R&E Council of NAPL since 1988.From 1974 through 1986, Udi was Vice President and then President of the Israeli Printing Industry Association. In 1984, Udi founded a company specializing in intelligent production management systems for the printing industry. He developed the Theory of Global Optimization (TGO) to educate the industry on the importance of using constraints management to be more competitive. Considered an expert in the field, Udi has lectured widely on TGO, the importance of synchronization and optimization of a printing company, and the viability of a dynamic scheduling system.

 

Jason Barrier
Manager, Printpack, Inc.

Jason earned a B.A. from the University of South Carolina and a masters degree Industrial Education in Graphic Communications from Clemson University.
Jason joined the Confectionery Division of the Printpack organization in 1995 where he managed graphics for the Hendersonville and Rhinelander plants for 10 years. He is currently managing Printpack’s Corporate Graphics Services Group providing prepress solutions to Printpack’s plant locations world wide.
Frank Belardo
Phoenix Environmental Technology, LLC

Frank Belardo has been involved in the environmental waste management segment since 1979. A graduate of Rutgers University, he has held positions with increasing levels of responsibility at GAF/ISP, B& P Environmental, Inc., First Source, Inc. and US Liquids, Inc. He is a founder and managing partner of Phoenix Environmental Technology, LLC., in Rockaway, NJ. 
Charlie Black
Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation

Originally from Illinois, Charlie Black has a degree in agricultural economics from University of Illinois and an MBA from Northwestern University. After a brief career in regulation of the futures market
industry, he started work in Omaha, NE for Union Pacific Railroad in marketing and sales in 1991. Ever since then he has been working in industrial transportation and distribution. His experience includes most major modes of industrial transport, warehousing and terminal operations. Other employers he has worked for include Chevron Phillips Chemical Company (Houston, TX), Georgia-Pacific Corporation (Atlanta, GA) and currently for Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation.

Roger Bostdorff
Leader-Engineering Fabrication, Inc.

Roger Bostdorff spent over 30 years with IBM in Sales, Sales Management and General Management. His last position before retiring from IBM in 2003 was World Wide Sales Executive, Solution Sales. Subsequently he was President of an Internet Security Firm. In 2006 Roger founded B2B Sales Boost, LLC a consulting company that focuses on helping small and medium sized businesses.  One of his key clients is Leader Engineering and Fabrication, the manufacturer of the Leader Vision System Mounter and Digital Analyzer
Dan Collins
Senior Product Development Scientist, Pliant Corporation

Dan Collins is a Senior Product Development Scientist for Pliant Corporation. During the last 18 years, he has been involved in many facets of the packaging business including printing, film and ink development, laminations, and converting. Dan has an excellent background and high degree of expertise with wide web printing of liquid inks for Flexographic and Roto Gravure printing applications. He also has in depth experience working on printing innovations such as high speed printing, expansion of graphic capabilities, and process optimization. Dan has an excellent understanding of ink systems and ink chemistry as he has experience working at large ink companies as well as several printing companies. Dan holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh.
Stefano d'Andrea
Vice President, Associazione Tecnica Italiana

Stefano has a high school degree in industrial graphic arts. He was teacher and technical director of the School of Media Development and Graphic Arts in Kampala (Uganda) from 1987 thru 1989 working for the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ugandan Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. He started dealing with flexography in 1989 as technical assistance to sales at a local manufacturer of platemaking systems for photopolymer plates. In 1998 he joined the Italian BASF dealer where he was product manager of photopolymer plates for the Italian market. In 2003, he initiated the Packaging Division of Tecnographica, a distributor of consumables and equipment for graphic arts, offering solutions for prepress, platemaking and printing for flexography. Stefano's activity includes education and hands-on training for printers and prepress companies covering the complete production workflow. Stefano is vice-president of ATIF, Italian Flexographic Technical Association.
Ed Dedman
Business Development Manager, Hewlett-Packard Company

In the middle of his 30th year in the Printing Industry, Ed has served several employers in a number of capacities, primarily in the printing ink business, but also including narrow-web flexo presses, and most recently in the digital printing industry. Starting in general production, Ed has advanced through lab positions, technical service, sales & marketing, business development, business management, and today finds himself at the business and technical forefront of a changing Label & Packaging industry.
Tony Donato
Process and Product Development Engineer, Harper Corporation of America

With over 30 years of experience related to manufacturing including plant management and line supervision, plant and facility engineering, manufacturing engineering, production and safety training Tony has found you can never stop learning. Starting off in paper machinery manufacturing in the early 70's before getting into the converting equipment and supplies side of the business in 1990 gives him a unique background. Over the years he has been involved in the manufacturing of Anilox rolls and enclosed ink chambers, pressroom supplies and working more and more into technical customer support. The last 10 years has put him in press rooms as a student and a teacher. During this time he has performed countless numbers of operator training seminars in both Flexographic and Gravure converters. Tony is a board member of the Phoenix Challenge Foundation a group dedicated to the promotion of printing education and is on several different school advisory committees.
Jean Engelke
Printing Services Leader, Alcan Packaging

Jean earned an AAS in Graphic and Design Technology, a BA in Printing Management, an MBA, and an MA in Industrial Engineering Management. She started her career teaching Printing and Paper Science at Western Michigan University, and conducting funded research. Leaving academia, Jean obtained a research associate position at Appleton Papers, moving into Product and Marketing Management in the Specialty Papers Business Unit. After 8 years at Appleton, Jean joined Alcan Packaging. Initially hired into Engineering to lead the Print Services groups, she is now in R&D as Print Services Leader. In her current position she is responsible for the process and technical specifications of pre-press input at all North American Food Flexible facilities for Alcan Packaging.
Jeff Feltz
Director of Product Management, Mark Andy, Inc.

Jeff works to develop strategies to identify and evaluate market opportunities and trends in our current markets while managing product offering. He is now responsible for managing the Mark Andy, Comco and UVTechnology product lines. Jeff has been with Mark Andy for more than eight years in manufacturing engineering where he served as Director of Manufacturing. Jeff holds a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, an M.S. in engineering management, both from UM-Rolla, and an M.B.A. from Webster University.
Timothy Gotsick
Director of Innovation, MacDermid Printing Solutions

Timothy Gotsick joined MacDermid Printing Solutions in 2003 to lead North American R&D on photopolymers for Packaging Flexo applications.  Prior to joining MPS, he was with MeadWestvaco R&D in Charleston, SC.  Timothy has a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a B.A. from Reed College.
Tom Jacques
Areea Sales Manager, North American Cerutti Corporation

Tom Jacques is the Area Sales Manager for Flexotecnica printing presses in the USA for North American Cerutti Corporation. Tom has been in capital equipment for over 23 years, and involved in flexography for over 18 years. Tom received his BBA from the University of Michigan in 1984 and his MBA with Graduate Honors, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1996. He is a Certified Marketing Executive with Sales & Marketing Executives International, and has been a frequent contributor to industry publications and has spoken at numerous industry events.
Debbra Johnson
NA Segment Mkt Mgr-Packaging Graphics, DuPont Imaging Technologies

Debbra has held Strategic Marketing positions within DuPont since joining the company in 1998.  In 2005, she became a member of DuPont Cyrel’s Marketing team where she focuses on market-back needs, segmentation and sustainability. Before joining DuPont, Debbra worked with the Nike subsidiary, Cole Haan.  From 1985 through 1994, she owned and operated The Johnson Group, specializing in integrated marketing.  This afforded her the opportunity to work with over 30 companies in 14 distinct industries. As both an entrepreneur and an employee, she has focused on the changing global landscape in several industries including food & drug retailing, footwear & apparel, construction, banking, healthcare, and now -- packaging.  Her passion lies in uncovering emerging and unmet needs across the value chain, and helping companies responsibly build and market products and services that “deliver.”

Phyllis Kerr
Quality Assurance Manager, Global Packaging, Inc.

Phyllis Kerr represents her company, Global Packaging, Inc. out of Oaks, PA.  Phyllis works as the Quality Assurance Manager. She also supervises and maintains the Environmental and the Sustainability programs at Global.  Phyllis has been in the Flexographic industry for 24 years – 12 of those with Global Packaging, Inc.
Brett Kilhenny
Business Manager, Rogers Corporation

Brett Kilhenny is the Business Manager for the Rogers R/bak Product line, urethane foam materials for cushioning in both corrugated and web flexography.  He has worked for Rogers the past 21 years, primarily in R&D before assuming the responsibility for Printing Products in February 2007.  He is a Chemical Engineer by training and holds six patents related to a broad range of products manufactured Rogers.

Diego Lanchuske
Project Manager, Mid West Packaging Ltd.

Diego Lanchuske is a Project Manager with over 15 years’ experience in Packaging and Printing industries. He has gained first-hand experience in Prepress and Manufacturing Processes.  He has successfully completed studies in Quality, Packaging, Production Arts, and Project Management. He has been collaborating with the FTA for the last three years with technical and managerial information. Diego coaches and mentors Graphic Design students in Winnipeg, MB, Canada, where he lives. Diego is also an active member of the Project Management Institute and is currently pursuing his Project Management Professional designation.
Colleen Larkin Twomey
Product Manager, MacDermid Printing Solutions

Colleen has been with MacDermid Printing Solutions for 18 years, and is excited about all of the improvements in flexography that have occurred in those years. She holds a sales support position within the company, in addition to making numerous trade association presentations and working on market research projects within the packaging industry. She has held various positions at MacDermid, including technical service, business development and product management. Colleen is a 1989 graduate of RIT’s School of Printing Management and received her MBA in 1997 from the University of Delaware. She lives in Marietta, GA with her husband Brian.

Rick Marsh
Manager, Corporate Accounts, DuPont Company, Packaging Graphics

Rick manages the Corporate Accounts Sales Team for DuPont’s Packaging Graphics business in North America.  He has 24 years of sales leadership with DuPont and 29 years of
packaging industry experience. Rick’s experience in sales planning and implementing business strategies has supported the continued growth of DuPont’s Packaging Graphics business. Rick has been a recipient of the coveted DuPont Marketing Excellence Award as well as numerous Sales Excellence Awards. His leadership has always been “TEAM”.  Whether it is his sales team or customer, there is always a feeling that you are supported. Rick’s background is of a team orientation.  He played professional basketball in the NBA for the Golden State Warriors and has volunteered as a youth basketball coach and mentor for the past 23 years in his community of Evanston, IL. Rick resides in Evanston, IL., has been married to Holly for the past 27 years and has one son, Ryan, a recent graduate from Hampton University in Virginia.
Mark Mazur
Technical Consultant, DuPont Imaging Technologies

Mark received a BS in Chemistry from the State University of New York at Albany in 1978, a Ph. D. in Physical Organic Chemistry from Yale University in 1982 and an MBA from Rutgers University in 1987. Mark has worked for DuPont for 24 years and has had a variety of assignments, including: product management, proofing, electroless plating, solid modeling and finance. In 1989 he joined the Cyrel® organization and is currently working on flexo CTP technology as well as striving to improve flexo printing throught applications of color management technology as applied to proofing and color separation.
Denny McGee
President, MPS America LLC

Denny’s label and packaging career scans some 35 years, in the past 20 years Denny has actively involved in the sale of label and packaging printing presses throughout North America. Denny was recognized for his contributions to the flexo industry with his induction into the FTA Hall of Fame in 2005.  As President of MPS America, Denny is responsible for North American sales and service of MPS printing presses.  Denny also serves as Co-Managing Director of Novalflex, Inc., a Chicago based sales and service agency representing printing press and related equipment manufactures.
Bob Mullen
Vice President Sales & Marketing, Sun Chemical Corporation

Bob Mullen began his career in the ink business with the old Inmont Ink Company in Cleveland, Ohio in 1976 and, since 1991,has been with Sun Chemical Corporation. Bob has held the positions of sales manager; branch, area and regional manager; market manager for flexible packaging inks and director of sales and marketing for packaging inks. He is currently the Vice President and Midwest Regional Manager for Sun’s Packaging business unit of North American Inks. He is very proud of the fact that he has spent his entire career learning from the FTA, serving as a Board member and past Chairman of the FFTA.
Dieter Niederstadt
Coordinator Future Product Development, Asahi Photoproducts Europe

Dieter has 22 years experience in the printing industry. He started as a photo type setter apprenticeship and studied print engineering at the University of Wuppertal, Germany and Watford College UK. He received his MPhil/PhD at the University of Hertfordshire (UK) with applied research on the subject of screening in printing with particular reference to flexography Dieter has been with Asahi Photoproducts since 2003 and is now responsible as a coordinator for new product development for the European market.
Sten Nillson
Senior Engineer, The Wichita Eagle

Sten was born and educated in Sweden, where he performed mechanical, electrical, printing and chemical consulting work for many different industries. He came to the United State in 1982 and has continued his consulting work. Sten is now Senior Engineer for The Wichita Eagle.
Bill Poulson
Technical Graphics Advisor, Harper Corporation of America

Bill has been in the flexo industry for 35 years working as a press operator and up to Plant Manager status in the manufacturing environment.  He had worked for Engraph Corp. for 20 years specializing in converting, coatings and muliti - web Label applications.  Presently he is a Technical Graphics Advisor for Harper Corporation of America and has been employed there for 9 years.  Bill’s responsibilities for Harper is for all narrow web and wide web flexo and gravure applications in the North eastern states.
Jeff Randazzo
President, Controlled Displacement Tech.

Jeff Randazzo has been active in the printing industry for over 35 years.  His technical background encompasses offset, gravure, and the flexographic printing processes. Through his career, he has participated in the development of many technical achievements that have had a positive impact on the printing industry.  Jeff has received numerous awards including the FTA “President’s Award” for outstanding contribution. Most recently, Mr. Randazzo has founded and is President of Controlled Displacement Technologiestm LLC (CDT). He has written several US and International patents covering a unique proprietary patented controlled displacement technologytm for use as an alternative to foam cushioning. The new product, named “ChannalBACtm”, represents a revolutionary and radically different approach to creating the dampening layer required by most printing processes.
Randy Scott
Global Vice President of Marketing, Pliant Corporation

Randy Scott, Global Vice President of Marketing is located out of Pliant’s company headquarters in Chicago, Illinois (U.S.A.) and is responsible for leading the companies marketing related activities. Prior to joining Pliant, Mr. Scott had worked in various commercial leadership roles for a number of the leading plastic and packaging companies in the industry, ranging from rigid bottles, thermoforming, resins, and flexible packaging and printing. Mr. Scott is active in the North American Flexible Packaging Association (FPA), Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI), and the Film and Bag Federation (FBF).
Glyn Slack
Business Development Director, Radius Solutions, Inc.

Glyn Slack is responsible for all new business development presentations and subsequent system configurations. Mr. Slack joined Radius Solutions in 1990 as a Pre-Sales Consultant and was a "founding father" of Radius in North America. Since that time, Mr. Slack has been actively involved in the majority of new account acquisitions. He also represents North America, in the global development of PECAS Vision and has served in the role of project manager. Prior to joining Radius, Mr. Slack had 13 years of experience in an accounting background, specializing in Cost Accounting and Business Process Re-engineering.
Mike Smoot
Business Manager, Xymid, LLC

Mike Smoot is Business Manager and V.P. for Xymid Print Sleeves located in Richmond, Virginia. He graduated from the University of Delaware with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1982 and accepted a position with PPG Industries at their Fiberglass Research Center. In 1989 Mike joined DuPont's Advanced Materials Group where he ultimately led the Print Sleeve Manufacturing & Development Group. In 1998 he left DuPont to join Xymid LLC, a spin-off from DuPont. During his career Mike has worked in Process and Product Development, Composite Design, Manufacturing, and Sales & Marketing. He holds several patents and has led several product introductions including Composite Air Shafts, Print Cylinders, Vacuum Drums, Bridge Mandrels and Print Sleeves.
Martin Spatz
Marketing Manager, Sun Chemical Corporation

Martin Spatz is a Marketing Manager for Sun Chemical’s North American Packaging Division in Northlake, IL responsible for the division’s growth initiatives.  Before joining Sun Martin was Marketing and Asset Manager for BP Chemical’s Global Olefin Derivates Business Unit.  In his role at Sun Chemical, Martin is responsible for market development and new product introduction of packaging ink and coating products in key growth areas in North America.
Jay Sperry
Lecturer, Clemson University

Jay Sperry is a faculty member in the Department of Graphic Communications at Clemson University responsible for industry training, research, and lab testing since 2004. After graduating from Appalachian State with a B.S. in Graphic Arts and Imaging Technology in 2000, he worked in areas of production and management for Diversified Label of Birmingham, Alabama. Jay decided to continue his education at Clemson University, earning Master's Degree in Graphic Communications in 2006. At Clemson, Jay instructs industrial training workshops and seminars in a wide range of flexographic printing topics, color management, and advanced color separation. Jay's research topics include conductive inks, printable electronics and displays, digital proofing, and advanced color reproduction systems.
Cindy Trenary
Production Manager, The Wichita Eagle

Cindy is the production manager for The Wichita Eagle
Her previous positions include layout manager, pre-press manager, pressroom manager. Cindy received her A.A.S. Manufacturing Business Skills and Supervision Management from Cowley County Community Collegein 2003. Cindy is a three time winner of the James K. Batten Knight-Ridder Excellence Award, 1996, 1998 and 2005; a Team Member of the PEAT Committee – to improve company morale, 1997; Co-Leader Circulation Task Force, 2002; and Wichita Team Leader of the Knight-Ridder Step-Up Task Force Newsprint and Production Best Practices, 2005.
Gail Wong
Prepress Manager, General Mills, Inc.

Gail Wong is the Prepress Manager at General Mills World Headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota, responsible for Production Art and Prepress of U.S. Retail Packaging.  This includes developing quality standards, best practices, and workflows for Design, Prepress, and Print Partners to ensure superior shelf impact and gain competitive advantage.  Previous to joining General Mills in 1997, Wong spent over 20 years with a prepress trade shop. Her roles included Customer Service Manager and Production Manager for Electronic Systems and Preflight Operations.
Nona Woolbright
Assistant Professor, Clemson University

Dr. Nona Woolbright has been a faculty member at Clemson University since 2002 and has over 17 total years of teaching experience. Prior to teaching she spent six years as an estimator for a publication printer. She is currently lead instructor for GC 480: Senior Seminar and GC 405/406: Problems in Package & Specialty Printing. She has also taught courses and labs for offset lithography and screen-printing as well as the Planning and Controlling Printing Functions class.
