Nobleton, Ontario -- June 4, 2012 saw the CFTC (Canadian Flexographic Training Committee) host the 31st Annual Ontario Roll Label Golf Tournament. Under the auspicious of the CFTC for the past six years, this event provides some of the funds to support its activities such as the Phoenix Challenge (both High School & Collegiate) as well as its annual scholarship endowments.
The CFTC is comprised of an independent body of flexographic printers, industry suppliers, prepress trade shops and consultants with a common goal; to
disseminate the knowledge, skills and competencies of the Canadian flexographic industry by supporting flexo specific education at high schools, technical colleges & universities. By way of personal networking, the CFTC aids in providing assistance for the professional development of “Committee Members” within the flexographic printing Industry.
This year’s event was held at the Nobleton Lakes Golf Club just north of Toronto under
threatening skies. That did not deter the numerous attendees as they completed 18 “dry” holes of golf
in record time, participating in a leisurely social hour before the buffet dinner and awards ceremony. FTA President Mark Cisternino, FTA Director Jay Kaibleand FFTA Chairman Gregg Platt attended along with retired Flexo Hall of Famer Dave Horsman (pictured above)adding an aura of celebrity to the event.
Students from Ryerson University’s 2012 Collegiate Phoenix Challenge team aided the event’s fund raising efforts by staging the putting contest. The first and second place 2012 High School Phoenix Challenge winning teams from Mississauga Ontario’s Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School were also on hand. The teams displayed their work that swept all major student awards this year at both the FTA’s Excellence in Flexography Competition as well as the TLMI’s recent print competition.
